Are Texas women cows?
by kurtbethel inlikely not, but this one is acting like one, and it's a good thing.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2223665/mother-wins-guinness-world-record-breast-milk-donation-pumping-86-galllons-help-premature-babies.html.
a mother in north texas has been awarded a guinness world record for donating breast milk.. alicia richman, 28, from granbury, pumped over 86 gallons between june 2011 and march 2012 for donation to the mothers milk bank of north texas, a nonprofit that supplies neonatal intensive care units.. the vast quantity equates to 11,000oz - to put it into context, a typical newborn's feed is around 3oz.. she told cbs dfw: 'i pumped at work, on vacations, in the car.
and i never had to buy formula.'.

Boy Scouts scandal eerily similar to WTS
by undercover ini posted this on flipper's thread about wts' handling of child abuse cases.
it sorta tied in with his theme, but not 100%, so i'm going to also give this it's own thread.. i'm guessing the boy scout scandal has the wt legal department working overtime right now.
i read an article about the boy scout scandal this morning.

I believe 100% that every single organization that worked with children or had child members had these exact same policies. In other words, every orphanage, every church, every school, every summer camp treated child abusers the same way. I'm NOT excusing their behavior, but people do not seem to remember the national culture pre-1980 that typically blamed the victim for any sexual assault. The country as a whole, government, law enforcement, everybody was complicit. So I don't see the validity of vilifying one particular organization based on actions they took or failed to take 30 years ago. WHat matters to me is how they are handling those situations right now. The Boy Scouts have put in place a very thorough IMO training program for the boys, the parents, and the leaders. Boys are explicitly told that no one should be touching them intimately (leaders or other boys), they are told to tell immediately, they are told that leaders are never allowed to be alone with scouts who aren't their children - there must always be 2 adults present, and parents are told about all this as well. I don't know how allegations of abuse would actually be handled in the present, as it's always possible that there could be a disconnect between public policy and actual practice. But at least the Boy Scouts are acting as if they really understand what they should be doing. The same can't be said for the WTS, and that is truly disturbing.

Jesus Christ Superstar
by FlyingHighNow inappreciation for the original soundtrack for the rock opera theater cast and for the movie that soon followed.
but any comments on any of the versions or stories you have, thoughts you have on this masterpiece by andrew lloyd webber would be cool.. first question: ian gillan, the original jesus, of deep purple fame on the soundtrack from 1970?.
or ted neely, a texas rocker who did the role of jesus in the movie?.

Need some help!!!!! ***URGENT***
by sinis inmy wifes mother recently passed away, and it has devastated my wife.
the family, who are not witnesses, but out of respect for the deceased, and who was a jw, had the ceremony at the kingdum hell, which almost made me throw up... last time i ever step foot in that place.
i felt like a vampire on the threshold of a church, as i looked into the interior hall feeling my skin burn and start to smoke... anyways, as i have posted on here before a friend of my wife, has in the past, sent her (my wife) emails about going back to the kingdumb hell.

I'd probably have blown a gasket in your situation. I hope you are able to keep your wife from going back.

Do you know of any U.S. JWs who have voted without getting DA'd?
by Open mind ini recently registered to vote in california and will be going to the polls on election day to experience what many americans do as soon as they turn 18. i could mail in my ballot, but i want to check the whole scene in-person.. .
i posted this info on another forum recently and have been told that i'm as good as da'd if i'm discovered.
i'd like to pose this question here since jwn gets much more traffic.

I don't think it's likely for the elders would come to be aware of someone voting, unless they were doing a stake out. Where I live, you vote at a location determined by your residence, maybe someone driving by might notice your car there. Your location is listed on your voter registration card. The elders would have to be really proactive to figure out where your polling place is, and then watch to see if you go there.

I'm just imagining the level of crazy that must exist at the Bethel leadership level. Not rituals and ceremonies exactly - just crazy behaviors.
